Prayer is listening to God – Matthew 4:18-22; 9:9
Jesus was walking near the edge of the lake.
He saw two fishermen.
The fishermen’s names were Simon and Andrew.
Simon and Andrew were catching fish in a net.
Jesus said to them:
“Come with me.
I will teach you to bring in people instead of fish.”
Simon and Andrew left their nets at once.
They went with Jesus.
They had listened to Jesus.
They did what Jesus said.
A bit further on, Jesus met two more fishermen.
Their names were James and John.
They were in a boat, mending their nets.
Jesus asked them to come with him too.
They stopped work right away.
They went with him too.
They had listened to Jesus.
They did what Jesus said.
Jesus went on down the road.
He passed a tax collector’s office.
A tax collector was inside.
His name was Matthew.
Jesus said to Matthew:
“Come and follow me.”
Matthew got up and followed Jesus.
He had listened to Jesus.
He did what Jesus said.
Jesus speaks to us too.
He wants us to listen.
He wants us to do what he says.
